ok all the spam bots are getting on my nerves, is ther a moderator who could delete the spam posts and boot the spam people? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

As far as i know, only Xaroth and mmmabbby Nhb can delete posts, and im sure only Xaroth can delete accounts.
So we're stuck for now.
-To Xaroth- Perhaps you could give some limited powers to one/all/either of us. You should be able to choose what we can or cant do, so say to Delete threads and thats it? I would happily go on cleanup rounds.

The Spam Killas are currently charged with mopping up the messes made on the boards (i.e. the board moderators). mebers include:

unfortunately, quite a few of these folks seem to not have been around super recently, and as xaroth can only do so much, so often, we arrive at our current predicament. I'm sure this will all get figured out soon; be strong fellow board members!

I guess this is the cost of an increasing player-base. I say it's worth it. I like to have people to talk with =D

Yeah, this spambot problem has been around for a bit too long now. I PM'ed Xaroth after the third spambot appeared and offered to become a Spam Killa, but apparently Xaroth's busy with something other than PQ. I'm sure he'd delete the spammers and their posts a.s.a.p. if he had the time.

I just hope everyone knows the right protocol when dealing with forum spambots - don't view, don't reply, don't PM. That would just hint the bots of activity and make them spam some more. It's been great to see how little attention the spam has been given here, good job PQ-people!

Anyway, I'm sure this will be dealt with accordingly very soon, even though father's day is coming and maybe Xaroth has something else than PQ requiring his attention. Patience.

yeah i have to say it makes me smile at the limited number of views and the lack of replies to the spammers .

has anyone considered contacting some of the spamkillaz other xfire to see if they will delete some of the topics? I'd do it myself but xfire needs updating and i dont have admin at the moment :/

Azured is the newest member of spam killers as of this posting, so hopefully that will help.

I've cleaned out the board, and am researching replacement CAPTCHA systems, since that's where the root of the problem is.

In case it was missed over in the status updates thread, phpBB3 has been updated to 3.0.6, which includes built-in support for reCAPTCHA. reCAPTCHA is one of the best ones out there, and helps with book transcription to boot, which makes it extra spiff.

At any rate, we should expect to see the spam problem greatly diminished for a long time now.
